Do you think they will last?

Dear All -

I was just wondering - if there is anybody to wonder to around here, the tumbleweed is building up a bit! - do you think that J.K. Rowling's books will stand the test of time? Will new generations be reading her work in a few years? Will people be discussing the pros and cons of the series in 2025?
Or has it been great fun and provided some good page-turning novels that people will remember with fondness but not bother to read again?

Discuss...

The books will certainly stand the test of time. They're classic enough literature, and the mythology has spawned many imitators. My guess is that that it will continue to be read in the next century, even if there are some anachronisms in the series by then.

Funny, I so seldom hear anybody talking about the Potter books anymore - there again, my own are not what you'd call currently under discussion! Never mind, that'll change next fall when the first of the new trilogy comes out - Winds of Change and Shaping - plug plug plug!
