Today, whilst in Ottkars bookshop, I noticed they had a little poster saying they were going to have a party on the 21st at midnight, celebrating Ootp!
Then, I thought, well it'd be no fun, I bet none of them are true fans, scarilly obsessed!
So, why don't we have one of our own?! Or even a few! Why dont we recieve the book together, if possible, if my parents will finally decide that I am now old enough to go on a bloody meet....
But don't ask me to organise this! That's if it goes together...

If you hold it in Melbourne I'll go, hehe! ;)
Yknow, I was thinking about this: not that many people at the Muggle are in the same place, are they? And most are reasonably young, so probably don't have the money they would like: might make things difficult!
Maybe you could organise an online party of sorts... we have a chatroom here that hardly ever seems to be used, least when I've been in there! Maybe you could arrange a set time and everyone could try and pop in or something, and chat excitedly about the book!
I realise it wouldn't be the same, but it might be a fun thing to do anyways! :)
I dunno, just my idea. I know there can be problems with chat meetings, but it might be worth a shot. Whaddya think? :)

:D The only problem with that, Xaz, is that everyone's gonna want to talk about the book but we're all going to be in different parts of the book...

Or we're going to be waking up or going to bed...or still at the bookstore. I want to go to one of those openings but don't know any other HP fans anywhere near me...but it's worth a shot..:)

Well, I never said it would be easy! :)
Yeah, the book thing would be difficult, unless you got everyobdy to agree on either not reading it or only reading up to a certain bit, yknow, a vow or something!
I do like to complicate things so. :D

That'd be a good idea, but I don't think I could restrain myself from reading more than I was supposed to...a meet would be better, but there are drawbacks there too...Why can't we win???

LOL well I for one am reading it as fast as I can... ;)
But we could set up pre-arranged landmarks (I can't think of the proper word right now)... a certain amount we're "allowed" to discuss per day in a certain thread. Like, by such and such a time, we discuss up through chapter 3. And then we can see how things progress from them.
Or whatever :D

Or just threads for every chapter? ;)
Even if it'd really be such a mess, wouldn't it? But it would be nice, kinda keep a reading diary - collect thoughts midway through! :D
I for one, would be going to a bookstore opening, if I could! (Don't know yet!)

FINALLY a meet I might be able to attend :D
There shouldn't be any party at bookshops here, mainly because there won't be any new HP book :D (usually the translated edition comes out later)
Apart from the threads, I think the chat meet would be a great idea too, of course if we can find a way to arrange it with the reading. We could either start it right from the moment it's out or something like one day later, so to give people enough time to 1)get it and come back home (and enjoy a RL party too if they want) 2)start reading. As for spoilers, I don't think we'd be too many, we could try and pay attention to that, maybe using "breakpoints" as suggested.
But then again I rely on Amazon guys to get it on the 21st! OHHH WELL :D

I'm going to the same bookstore I got GoF at, except they've moved to a larger location with a cafe and everything so this time I'll be with hundreds of people and lots of caffeine and sugar. :rotfl: No way I'm getting online, or doing much of anything, until I've gotten the book home and finished reading it (last time I did get a couple of hours of  after getting home so I'd be in a relatively coherent state for reading... if this time is similar I should be online again around lunchtime on Saturday.)

I'll be a free woman by the 14th june, so I'm planning to read from about midnight on saturday, in the car on the way home and into my reading chair! Read all night, and all day. I'll only stop for the toilet, and will have food and drink by the table! lots of coco-cola and chocolate! :D
so excited....!!

As much as I'm excited about OotP... I'm gonna have to get at least a few hours asleep because of my "little" trip to see Phantom of the Opera that afternoon. :D
We didn't spend hundreds of dollars for me to fall asleep in the theater. ;)
I will, however, be finished by Sunday evening.

I don't think I'll try to finish it ASAP... I mean, I'm not such a fast reader and I don't want to "run" and miss details... Rereading all HP books now I just found out how many hints I missed the first time!
That doesn't mean I'll sleep anyway ;) :D

Brits, this might affect your plans :):
Mugglenet (www.mugglenet.com) OotP Release Party in London!
After much discussion with interested HP cast members and fans, we are making final plans to meet in a large bookstore in London to host a midnight party celebrating the release of the fifth book, Order of the Phoenix.
We've got work ahead with finalizing and coordinating the bookstore/nearby hotel accommodations/physical plan for the event. We are in contact with various interested HP cast members, and as we get closer to the date, we'll know more of their schedules and post that info.
We need to know how many people are interested in coming. No more guessing on my part -- I need a show of hands so we can better guess the size of the crowd involved for the benefit of the bookstore/hotel/party needs.
Leave a comment below if you are interested in attending, and how many people you would be bringing with. We'd also like to know if you'd consider staying in a nearby hotel after the party (it is a midnight release). We're working on getting group rates right now, but we need to give them a number.
They are talking cast members, you know. :)
And since Jason Isaacs is a huge fan of the books, if he's not filming any movies at the moment I might be able to imagine him being there. That's just a guess, though. Take it into consideration. ;)

Just thought people might like to know
Our local paper has a question section where people write in and can ask any question
Someone wrote in and asked what were historic and coming events on 21June
Not a single mention of a book launch in reply
