Site Improvements

Okay, guys. We've been up and running for a week now (:hug: to Voldie! and the others!), and what I want to know is: how can we improve the place? I'd like especially to give the front page a facelift, and am looking for suggestions. What do you like, what do you not like, and what would you like to see? Lemme know, and I'll come up with a few examples and we can vote on them or something!:)

:) I think we can nix the Collecting forum and maybe when there's interest, start a collecting thread. The forum looks so sad with those zeros beside it. :(

Another suggestion I have is to add actor/character birthdays to our calendar, like at the CoE. I already posted a list of them in the Leaky Cauldron. :)

For the front page, I really enjoyed the weekly polls we had at the "old" MI forums.

What Collecting forum? :confused:

There is plenty of front page real estate for a weekly poll, but someone would have to be in charge of changing the polls each week. I will be glad to set up the software for the poll, but someone else will have to manage the content. Any volunteers?

i like the first of both :D


i like the lettering on the first of the second lot, and i prefer the first of the first lot cos i'm not keen on the 'aura' around the characters on the second.

Also, have noticed that the MI banner does bit randomly lead you to CoE sometimes... it works fine when you're on the index, but if you use it in a thread, it gives you CoE... bit randomly. (Now replying this, it gives me MI, as it should :p)

edit: For example, in Leaky Cauldron it is linking to CoE... (I think this problem is only with the parts of Forum that existed on CoE? :))

Yeah, I know about the linking to CoE. Unfortunately, the template program is not very friendly and I just haven't had time to hunt through the HTML for every template and fix it. All in good time. I am only mortal.....but it is on my list of things to do.

Go to that forum's styleset. It's in the header section near the top of the page. It should be the first thing listed there inside the table.

I like the first of the first and the third of the second.

The only thing that bothers me is the violent purple coloring ;).

d'oh! Sincere apologies to anyone who was online while I was fooling with the templates and stylesets! I had things pretty goofed up there for a while, but all seems to be fixed now.

All of the logos should link to the right places now and all of the forums except for Tales from Hogwarts and Beyond have their own logos. That one is coming. If you see anything that still isn't right, let me know. Thanks.

Thanks! It looks slightly off-center in my monitor though. I kinda think it needs a border too. picky me.:rolleyes: I'll play around with it in a bit; I've got RL things that need to be done first:).
