Sorry to start a new thread about this, but maybe it can be used for other odd things we find:D

I was looking through my pictures from my trip to Europe last summer, and came across this (http://www.geocities.com/lithorose/19b.txt). I was wondering if you British people (or those familiar with England) can tell me what that blue thing in the background is? My family and I thought it may be for natural gas or something.

Oh dear. I think there's a thing like that in Helsinki too, but I have no idea what it actually is. :confused:

Yes, that's a thing for storing gas (it has a name, but I can't remember what it is :o). In the picture it's obviously empty. There's a sort of lid that rises up inside the frame when there's gas in it.

Its called a Gasometer as far as I am aware - at least it is what they are called here
