:) This is such a nice forum!
I rented Tuck Everlasting last night after waiting since like July to see it. I'd been a big fan of the book since I read it when I was about 9 or 10.
 It was really nice!!! There were parts of the movie that were too slow, and other parts where lines weren't delivered convincingly, but I was happy to see that they kept the spirit of the book alive. In many ways I feel like the movie actually improved on the book.
Take a hanky :D
(and I copy/pasted my post about Blow Dry):
I rented Blow Dry expecting an American comedy, had NO idea it was British. Josh Hartnett now not only hurts my eyes, but also my ears as he attempted what I think was supposed to be a Scottish accent. And he said "eh" too much... and I just can't help thinking of Canadians when people do that! And I no longer find use of the word "bloody" amusing, seeing as how it was used in just about every other sentence in this movie. The movie: what was a very humorous storyline and could've been a very funny movie given the right treatment fell sadly short and the only truly amusing part was the part at the end when Alan Rickman pulls out his golden scissors and gets all serious about cutting.
My, how I suffer to see my Jason and Alan. :swoon:

Mmm... Last movie I saw was... Catch me if you can...
It was okay, a lot longer than I had expected and I LIKED Leonardo DiCaprio in it.
I forgot to rent out Monty Python... Was going too... :o Decided to watch Romeo + Juliet instead...

I've been wanting to see Tuck Everlasting. Thanks for reminding me Colli!
Last movie I saw was the Princess Bride. Again:D I noticed that Westley's pirate shirt looks an awful lot like Aragorn's blue shirt, only one's black and one's blue. I noticed some other costume similarities, but now I forget them. Oddly, I got some ideas for color schemes for one of my classes from the movie. One of those rare times skipping schoolwork turned out good.
Has anyone seen Bend it Like Beckham? I tried to see it at our Int'l film fest here in Oregon, but it was sold out at all shows:mad: I heard it was pretty good.
I also watched Dinotopia, cause David Thewlis was in it. HORRIBLE!! Thewlis is okay but the rest are horrible! I could go on for pages about it. There was no acting to speak of, and I found it super-preachy. The Dinotopian way is THE way; we won't use violence to defend ourselves but we will loose small animals to distract predators while we pass through their territory! Gahhh! [/rant] The waterfall city was pretty.

I just saw 28 Days Later a couple of days ago. Some of the scenes were rather disgusting and some of it just wasn't logical. It was also quite predictable, but all in all I suppose it was okay. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who tends to get sick or get nightmares of gross scenes, though.

:D No problem, lithorose. [(edit): nice location! :D]
I found myself missing The Princess Bride (I rented it a few weeks ago), so I finally broke down and bought it at Walmart. :) I LOVE Cary Elwes, I must find Men in Tights. :swoon: Oh.. I bought Tuck Everlasting, too. :o I am a movie addict.. some people just can't helping buying clothes or shoes or jewelry... I can't help buying movies. :D
I also watched Kate and Leopold last night.. good movie! The first hour or so was rather boring, but it picked up and I absolutely LOVE Leopold. Not necessarily Hugh Jackman... just Leopold. :D Chivalry and "princess" movies rock.

I saw Kate and Leopold, and decided I loved Leopold too! ;) And got all moody because we wanted a Leopold for ourselves... *sigh*

I don't want a Leopold.
Hugh Jackman was great as Wolverine :swoon: but I thought Kate and Leopold was pretty bad. I thought it was riddled with inaccuracies and improbabilities (look at the big words I know!), which really distracted me throughout. Liev Schrieber was pretty good though:o (he played Meg Ryan's loopy ex)
edit:
Yep, we definitely need a thread on 'princess' movies. This forum's still a little spare:D

I am sick, so I've watched a ton of movies lately to distract myself from my suffering.
Last night, I decided I really wanted to see a movie so I took seven prescription pills (I wouldn't recommend doing that!) and went to Just Married. It was hilarious--and very CUTE!! I definitely recommend it. After the movie, I went to my friend's house and we watched Shanghai Noon, because I saw Shanghai Knights and wanted to see the first one. It was also very funny, and as with the second, the bloopers are the funniest parts.
I also watched Interview with the Vampire, which I love dearly. ;) Although I cannot say much for Tom Cruise's and Brad Pitt's french accents, they both did a great job! The best thing about the movie though, is Brad Pitt's eyes. Beautiful.
Also saw a bit of Queen of the Damned. Love the music...and Stuart Townsend. What abs!!
Colli

*shivers* I still have a horrible bias against Stuart, can't get that first picture of him I saw out of my mind. And I can't get that image of him in Aragorn's clothes.... eesh. :p :)

:D I can't wait for the Matrix movies.
We watched some cheesy British version (1984, I think) of Antigone in English... they tried to modern-ize it and Creon ended up looking like Dr. Evil... not to mention all the names were pronounced the British way and "Creon" ended up pronounced as "Crayon" therefore making "King Creon" HIGHLY amusing.

Also rented Road to Perdition, which, due to it's deep plots and mysteries (something I'm not used to recently ;)) horribly confused me until it was about half over. But it's very good, Tom Hanks is excellent (as usual) and Jude Law is.. :swoon: I cried a bit in the middle and at the end, but I always cry. :D

Saw The Ring today! :D
I wasn't scared by it, at all, watching telly right now!
But some bits did freak me out! When that Katie girl was dead and they showed her body, when Samara started to decay in Rachel arms, and her little boy, freaked me out, all the time! And when Richard Morgan electrecuted himself...
But I spent most of the movie laughing quietly at my friend Maria who was screaming, covering her face, and things! ;)

I've seen 'The Ring' ... and didn't get scared. I have seen the Japanese version too. The person I was with got scared though. She now has a poster on her wall of The Ring so she can be scared every night when she goes to bed. :D
I've seen 'DareDevil' which was ... well ... interesting, but not the best I've ever seen :D And 'Chicago' which was great, and I found Renee Zellweger really appealing in it. Something about her eyes :) And 'Catch Me If You Can' I really liked, which surprised me. I thought it was a good film and that's despite having Leonardo DiCaprio in it, who I don't actually like in films very much (and who, btw, I think looks disgusting in 'Catch Me' in the scenes when his hair is long ... and I normally LOVE long hair on guys ... :D).
'Adaptation' I saw ... that was only on one week here. It was quite confusing to start with, but I thought it was a good film, and worth seeing just for the interweaving of lives. It got a bit 'Hollywood' at the end, I thought - and I'm pretty certain there were some scenes cut there to shorten the film. That's because suddenly the pacing felt a bit odd and there felt like there were gaps. But it was a good film. (Though two people walked out early on ... it takes a while to get going, and I think they got bored.)
And ... oh, I've seen loads. Part of what I'm studying at the moment is film, so I get to see quite a lot. 'About Schmidt' I loved, though the people I went with said it was too slow. I don't cry in films, ever, but I did right at the end of that one :D
'Maid in Manhattan' yeah ... that was fun. Predictable but fun, and I found Jennifer Lopez good in it, though I'm not so sure that I'd have been interested in the senator hopeful :D
'Confessions of a Dangerous Mind' confused me. I had to have it explained. But maybe that was because throughout the whole of the film I was watching for Sam Rockwell to put on a low-brimmed hat :swoon:
I even saw 'Far from Heaven'. Okay there were bits in there that didn't feel quite right, but I LOVED the sets and the costumes and just the whole period feel of the thing. :)

With the Oscars, Moulin Rouge was the film last year tipped for all the Oscars as Well as Beautiful Mind, which scooped most of the gongs... Well, Chicago wasn't that good. It was great with the music and dance, and I adored Queen Latifiah and Catherine Zeta Jones in it, but hated Renee Zelweger ;) But it wasn't that good... Certainly no better then TTT.... *sigh*

 Everyone says "Oh, it's ok. LotR will sweep the Oscars next year."
No we won't. We'll have two stupid Matrix movies (which I'm actually looking quite forward to!) to compete with and they've already been proved Hollywood favorites. I kind of hope they suck. ;)

If there's anything I'm looking forward to more than LOTR (and the next HP) it's the Matrix sequels!! They're going to ROCK! They have to!
But who needs Oscars anyway? Look how many years it took Spielburg to get even a single Oscar!
In other news, I recently saw Quiz Show, which was a really great movie! Really great story, great sets (:swoon: for the fifties!), great actors (:swoon: for Ralph Fiennes and those gorgeous eyes!). Ahem, yeah. But the story was really great, I was surprised. It was about doing the right thing and taking responsibility for what you've done and how easy it is to get corrupted and how hard it is to get out of it...all told in an unsentimental and realistic way. Very refreshing. I wish Hollywood would make smarter pieces like this more often.

We've just come back from seeing 'Equilibrium' which I really liked and so did the people I was with. Which was pretty amazing, because two of the staff just before we went in said that it was rubbish.
Well, okay, maybe there wasn't masses to the storyline. But wow! did I like the way the film was constructed, and the way the whole thing felt ... all stark. I really did like this film. But then, apart from a little drop in pace in a couple of places, I liked 'Minority Report' too.
I wanted to see 'Life of David Gale' and
a friend has told me the ending (because I asked him to :D) and it transpires that David Gale dies right at the end, just as his pardon is about to arrive. I'm very very funny about executions - I get very upset over them, and I'm not sure that I'm going to be able to see it now. Bother!
In Chicago
I got caught out ... because I've seen it and someone gets hanged there. And I specifically asked my friend about the film, because she'd seen it, and to assure me no one did get hanged, otherwise I wouldn't go .... and ....
And for '8 Mile, Colli :)?' It's basically a 'local kid sort of makes good' kind of film, and I thought it was going to be pretty tedious and moralistic. But actually I liked the way it was done, and some of the humour in it, and how particular disadvantaged lives were portrayed. It's about rap, and I found it good because I got an insight into it that I hadn't got before. I also found the insights into the creative process good, although there weren't that many of them, but that resonated with me. I'd have liked to have seen it again. It runs at the rate of about twenty !!!! per minute :D :D

:) I was out shopping today... saw "Truly Madly Deeply". Consequently, I swooned. :D They don't have it at our local movie gallery, so I bought it. Walked around the store and saw the 5 dollar movies section.. the"rejects". ;) Lo and behold, "The Island of Dr Moreau" was sitting there. Since I've been meaning to rent it anyway, and it would cost me almost 5 dollars to do so, I went ahead and bought it. :D
TMD is beautiful... but the lead actress (Juliet something or other) is the same woman I was talking about in Antigone earlier.. so it took me half the movie to try to adjust to her. Alan Rickman is amazing as always... he wears this absolutely ridiculous mustache, but otherwise it's wonderful.
The movie's not amazingly exciting, but it's British. :p Go figure. ;)

Well I saw the Hunted tonight. Didn't hate it but I laughed a lot at all the inaccuracies. Not just locations (the movie has things right next to each other which are miles apart in RL), but because of things that most people should know, like:
Like showing an elk when you mean 'deer', making a blade out of scrap steel on an extremely small fire in an extremely small period of time while the chasers are really close, showing hunters hunting out of season (and hunting in a popular State Park;)), falling off a hundred-fifty ft. bridge into ten feet of water. There are other things, but I forget them. Overall it seemed pretty pointless, even if it was a slightly higher grade pointlessness than usual. Things which could have had significance just didn't. And yeah, it was pretty bloody. I think. I was staring a my shoes a lot, so I only saw it out of the corner of my eyes;)

I did finally see 'Life of David Gale' last night, after our friend reassured me that it wasn't quite like we thought, the ending, and
we didn't get shots of David Gale being executed
I was quite surprised. The film was better than the critics over here had said. They'd panned it, called it obvious, and called Kate Winslett 'surprisingly poor'.
Well, Kate Winslett was a bit annoying in places, but she wasn't that bad :) And the film itself ... yes there was one REALLY obvious moment in it when I wanted to pick up Kate Winslett's character Bitsy Bloom and bounce her up and down a few times and say, 'how come it took you so long to realise that when we, in the audience, realised half an hour ago?' :D But the film has some nice little twists in it - so much so that right at the end I didn't understand and had to have it explained afterwards :D
I do get a little fed up with
obvious things that happen in films ... there's always the race against the clock, the hero (or heroine in this case) goes in and does things him or herself when any other person would simply make a call to the police :D) but I can cope with that.
But the thing that REALLY got me was
after I'd asked around to make sure about the execution ... what DIDN'T they tell me?? Well, there were pictures of executions on walls ... and ... oh yeah ... only that there was a video of the 'murder' victim, and that we have the 'treat' of seeing that person's last moments. Oh thanks.
I shall have to get better film spies to inform me I think ... :D :D :D

Yeah, I kinda liked it. It wasn't the greatest movie in the world but Val Kilmer made it worth my while. :) And David Thewlis is pretty good in it... his voice still annoys me but I think in proper hair and makeup and clothing he can make a decent Lupin. :)

I finally saw Chicago today. It was fine, but perhaps a bit disappointing after all the Oscar buzz. I mean, it was enjoyable to watch and there was some very good acting and performing, but it didn't really touch my feelings at any rate. It didn't make me cry or laugh like Moulin Rouge did last year.
I don't really see how the Academy could hand Chicago the Best Movie award after not giving it to Mouling Rouge the year before.

Anyone here see Frida? It seemed to get a lot of awards as well. I may go see it if it's still playing. It was apparently a Julie Taymor project, and she did Titus, which had really weird costumes and sets but kinda cool too.

Have you seen Pride and Prejudice yet? (the 1995 BBC mini-series) I like S&S a lot, but that version of P&P is probably one of my favourite book-to-movie adaptations ever. And then there is Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy of course... :swoon:

Neglecting Alan? Not so, StarGazr. :D In fact, just this morning I was watching Truly Madly Deeply. ;)
Ok. Here is my recent Pride & Prejudice rant.
So everyone goes on about Colin Firth, and about how great this movie is. So I'm like "Well, I should see it because I don't want to miss out! And last time I rented a movie everyone loved it ended up being The Princess Bride, which was awesome"
So I went to the movie gallery, right? To the Drama section.. and I saw Pride and Prejudice and this massive 2-tape set. And I've heard that P&P is like a million hours long, so I'm like "ok."
So I get home and put it in. My jaw drops.. it's SOOO boring! And annoying! And Mr Darcy is NOT swoonworthy! Nor does he greatly resemble Colin Firth, but the movie's older, right? And Colin was a lot younger then. And the cinematography is dreadful. And the affected accents are being to give me a headache. So after an hour I turn it off and get on the computer for a few hours... and PrincessAurora couldn't believe that I didn't like it. Nor that I found Mr Darcy ultimately annoying and the movie terribly slowpaced. But I got back off the computer later and finished the movie.. after another half-hour or so I actually got into it. So at 3:30 this morning it was finally over... and I was only mildly impressed. So the credits flashed across the screen and lo and behold, Mr Darcy was NOT played by Mr Firth. I could've screamed. 4 hours for NOTHING.
I just don't know if I'm in the mood now to go rent the PROPER P&P. *annoyed*

Which version did you see then? I know the rest of them aren't very great. It's the version with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle (http://www.geocities.com/annemari17/pp.html) you should see.
Colli
03-29-2003, 03:48 PM
I saw the 1985 version (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0078672) which is listed on IMDb as 1979.. I suppose because it wasn't released in America until '85. But all the people in it were terribly annoying.. and Mr Darcy not the slightest bit swoonworthy. Come to mention it, no one in that version was swoonworthy. ;) Mr Darcy is entirely unbelievable when he finally tells Eliza that he loves her and wants to marry her. It went over me right like cold water... there was nothing of a man who was in love.
Grrr. 4 hours. Wasted.

Ooh, poor Colli! I have not seen the older version myself, and I'm sorry to hear that it is dreadful. Too bad your P&P viewing experience has been forever tainted! Now I only hope you aren't dissapointed with the Colin Firth/Jennifer Ehle version.:( Not that it is bad, but it is also looong. If you aren't in the mood for another long movie, I suggest waiting a little while before you see it. (This coming from the girl who watches five hour long BBC productions in one sitting for fun :o)
And the movie I watched recently? Well, all this talk of The Princess Bride made me pull it out and watch it again. I just adore Valerie. "I'm not a witch, I'm your wife! But after what you just said, I'm not even sure I wanna be that anymore!"

only at 2 movies
Animal Farm - when they take away Boxer the horse (hope I got the name right)
Fellowship of the Ring - when Boromir Died (I had waited so long for the movie and it was so good and to wrench the emotions like that even though I knew what was happening)

I watched the Neverending Story yesterday. I cried when Artax (the horse) died. I always have.
In other news, it was a really great movie! It holds up much better than other 80s fantasy, like say Willow, or Labyrinth (though I still like Labyrinth). I saw a whole new level to it I never saw as a kid, about storytelling and about not letting despair eat everything up. It was .
I also watched Edward Scissorhands. I know it's kinda old news, but what can I say? I was a deprived child!:D It was a great and surprisingly sweet and genuine movie. And suburbia was absolutely friggin' hilarious! We watched a little bit a couple years ago in my Urban Studies class, and were supposed to analyze its vision of suburbia. This time around it was soooo funny! So almost true and yet so ridiculous! And the houses were all painted the same colors as Target's housewares!

Sorry to double post, buut....I was just looking for filming locations in the NES (see above post) and found something really interesting. The kid who played Atreyu was in this movie called Troll, and his character's name was-guess what? Harry Potter Jr! Turns out this movie has not one, but TWO Harry Potters!
LOL Isn't that just weird?:p
Xazinon
04-05-2003, 07:46 AM
LOL, that IS weird lithorose! :)
When was this movie filmed? Should we sue JKR for plagiarism? Did either Harry Potter have a funny looking scar on his head? ;)
I watched Neverending Story last year for one of my university subjects and I loved it too, actually! But, after watching it, I had to go on the 'Net to find out what the kid yelled out the window as his mother's name, cos I couldn't figure it out and it was bugging me! :)
I think the answer that came up was 'Moonchild', because that's what it was in the book version. It amused me when I heard there was a book version: how neat would THAT be to carry around in your bag, huh? ;) :D
lithorose
04-05-2003, 10:07 PM
I think the movie was in the late 80s. Don't know about the scar;)
I have watched it since I was a little kid, and NEVER knew her name! I'm not sure I even believe it (I saw it on the web a couple days ago). I always thought she we werent' supposed to hear it because it could be anyone's name.
Xazinon
04-05-2003, 11:37 PM
Well, that could be right too, lithorose: I think when I read what the name was supposed to be, it was kinda like 'well, if it actually was a name, the most likely name would be Moonchild'. I don't think it's confirmed or anything, just specualtion. Still open to interpretation, I reckon. :)
lithorose
04-06-2003, 03:51 AM
The site I saw it on cited it as her name, definitely. Which got me to thinking: If there's a book, it probably has the name in it. However, my interpretation has held up pretty well over the years, thinks I.;)

04-07-2003, 09:00 AM
Well, yeah, that's what I said: there is a book version, and the name supposedly given in the book is 'Moonchild'. I say supposedly, because although I reckon it's right, I haven't actually read it and thus haven't checked first hand.
I didn't wreck it for you by giving you the name did I, lithorose? Hope not! :)

Oooooh and I nearly died laughing when the Ninevites pulled out fish and started slapping each other. Very very VERY funny. Especially since they do it throughout most of the movie. :trout:
Um, and I watched it with my Bible in front of me, and they followed the story almost to a T, just adding/minorly adjusting things to make the story more kid-friendly and cinematically pleasing. I don't recommend this movie as a substitute for good old-fashioned teaching, but it is amusing. :)
And there wasn't enough Larry the Cucumber!

:) Monty Python IS really funny. I just watched it with my *friend* who had never seen it ;)... we spent all week quoting it. :D Actually, I think I enjoy quoting it a little bit more than I actually enjoy the movie. ;)
And then we had a swoonfest and watched Kate & Leopold, Sense & Sensibility, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and Sweet Home Alabama. :swoon:

Just recently watched Empire Records. I had never seen it and a friend of mine has been recommending it for years! My cousin loaned it to me... finally! It was soo good! Really funny and... ummm well it's a good movie and I loved the music in it! Highly recommended!

Ah, Empire Records. Saw the first ten minutes of it, and my dad made me change channels (back in the day). Oh, well. I was mostly watching it because it had Ethan Embry in it (can't remember the other name he went by) who was in this movie called 'A Far Off Place' (I think) about these two kids in Africa that was pretty good. Ennyhoo...
Monty Python and the Holy Grail is great!! I only saw it like three months ago, after getting tired of everyone quoting it. LOVED the Frenchman! and the nights of Ni!
"You shall bring me....another shrubbery! And place it over there, right next to the other one, only a little lower...."
"Of course I'm French! Why do you think I have this oughtrahgeus accent!"

I really like monty Python's material, its the best british comedy out there really. And in marching band, people make jokes and quote from the movie. And you either get it or you dont, which is hysterical to me.
Example:
guys are ganging up on Chiana
Chiro: "Burn er'!"
Jared: "She's a witch!"
Chiro: "A witch! Burn er'!"
Chiana: "I'm not a witch! I'm not a witch!"
Jared: "She turned me into a newt!"
everyone stops and looks at him
Chiro: "A newt?"
Jared: "Well..........i got betta'"
Sad I know but it was funny at the time.
And for the induction into the international Thesbian's Society at school we have a gong show. Two of the freshman did the swamp castle scene with Herbert, it was hysterical. But only so few people in the audience got it, those of us who did were splitting our sides!

LOL, yep, Month Python and the Holy Grail is funny alright! :)
I have a Lego version of the Camelot scene from Holy Grail on my computer which is hilarious! I was gonna post a link so you could look at it, but I don't think it's up any more. :(
Still, you can look at these stills from an apparently full Lego version of the movie: no doubt you'll find them amusing. ;)

Xaz, MP in Legos!!:rotfl:
Anyone seen the Crucible? Saw it recently. T'was pretty good, though not too interested in re-watching it. Winona Ryder was a !!!!! in it. Never seen her play a nasty character before. And I thought it was really interesting the way the justice (or lack thereof) played out in the film. And the absolute paranoia of the town. And I actually came to respect that visiting preacher, once he realized that DDLewis and his wife weren't involved in witchcraft.
It was also interesting how the morals of the 20th century (when the play was written) were in the play, as opposed to the morals it would have if it had actually been written at that time. That is, the ideal of the individual and his responsibility to his own conscience, defying society for his beliefs. Not that there wasn't some of that then, but it was much less pronounced.
And very relevant for today.

Glad you liked the lego, lithorose! :D
If anybody is keen to see the Camelot scene, the version I have is a QuickTime one, pretty small size... if you send me a PM or an email with your email address I could always try sending it via that. I think it's like 1.7Mb or something. Well, the offer is there if you want it: I find it very funny, meself. :)
Haven't seen the Crucible, lithorose, but from your description it sounds interesting! I don't know how different exactly the moral codes would be, but I can certainly imagine that it would be hard to reconstruct the full moral attitudes of the past accurately in the more liberal times we have now. :)

They did a lego version of the Camelot scene? Hm. Didn't really 'get' that part. Liked the Frenchie and the Knights of 'Nee!' best myself.
The morals aren't completely different, just a much more pronounced proclamation of the individual (wow, lookat all the big words I know!:D ). It's just interesting because people worry these days about getting everything just right, not pushing their own morals on others and stuff. Not like that's really possible anyway.
Glad to see you're back, Xaz!

Yeah, a Lego version of the Camelot bit... you don't need to get it to understand the Lego version though, I don't think! I'd forgotten the scene when I saw the Lego version the first time, and it was hilarious just seeing the Lego people singing and dancing: it's also quite a brilliant imitation in my opinion! :D

Amberion -
Of course you won't be seeing it at the cinema again, dear one! After all, the leading lady is kind of ok (though I'm suppose no judge, really) , but doesn't strike me as anything really special in eithe the looks or the acting departments - whereas we ladies have two, count 'em TWO lovely lads to :swoon: over!
I just saw POTC yesterday, and I have to admit, I came out pretty much singing Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum! I mean, I liked Johnny Depp before, but - oh, my, when a decent director gets hold of him and makes him ACT, what a lovely chap he is and all! And I have to admit it, ladies. I have been of the anti-Orlando Bloom camp for some time, but I renounce my aversion. He does nicely in this movie. Very nicely indeed. I get the feeling that he's still holding something back in the romance department (he isn't by any chance gay, is he?), or maybe it's the part, but he is a fine swashbuckler! And they do make a lovely double act! :D
Lanen, who is STILL not finished with revisions, grrr!

Just got back from seeing Calendar Girls, a movie about a group of women from a rural village in Yorkshire (England) who decided to raise money for leukemia research by making a Women's Institute calendar with a difference - they posed nude (though not showing any rude bits - covered by the knitting they were doing, or hiding behind the palette while painting, you get the idea).
This is a movie based on something that really happened. OK, Hollywood has doubtless taken liberties, but it's a terrific movie, funny, moving - well worth a trip to the theater and the £5 or so to get in...

I liked the ending of Spiderman 2. I liked the setup for the new villain and the developments in the MJ/PP relationship.
I would've been pretty upset if she hadn't found out he was Spiderman, since Parker had pretty much been putting her through the ringer emotionally. Though it got a little much, with her leaving the groom at the altar.

Last cinema film visit was to see Japanese Story. Can't tell you much about it without spoiling it entirely, so I'll just say it's about a man, and a woman, from different cultures, with preconceived ideas about each other... and it's set in the Australian Outback. Stunning photography, and a fantastic story. It's not fast-paced so probably not everyone's cup of tea, but I loved it.
Other than that, I've seen Meet Joe Black, Finding Nemo, Sleepy Hollow, and Down With Love on dvd, and I'm hoping (if my tv aerial works) to watch Never Been Kissed this evening.
I will be seeing Spider-man 2 as soon as I can. I loved the first one, and think Tobey Maguire is an incredible actor, so I'm looking forward to #2.
I also want to see Shrek 2, having enjoyed the first one.

I do have to admit the MJ crap at the end was pretty bad, but overall I felt sorry that no matter what, they could never get
together because of Peter Parker's choice to be Spider-Man.
That moment where Peter Parker and MJ look into each others eyes after MJ learns the truth was priceless. It almost made me burst into tears!
